St Giles Centre for Religious Education and Faith Development
The St Giles Centre for Religious Education and Faith Development is an exciting new initiative which plans to create a vibrant space within St Giles church, Wrexham to facilitate greater and more flexible use of the building by schools, community groups, and the church. In physical terms, a number of enhancements will be made to the church building, including the use of twenty-first century techniques and technology to create flexible activity spaces through moveable screens.
The St Giles Centre will develop new approaches to visiting and using the church building by schools so that children and young people are helped to understand how the building still speaks of God today. The Centre will also work to build up the faith of its members and community groups as well as broaden the impact of the church within the community. Through joint collaboration between the Wrexham Parochial Educational Foundation, the St Mary’s Centre, and St Deiniol’s Library, it is anticipated that there will be curriculum development projects, and consideration of how the results of research into religious development might impact on teaching and learning in RE and faith development. The overall aim of all these aspects is to promote excellence in RE and faith development, both locally and nationally in Wales.
