The Faculty of Visiting Professors and Visiting Research Fellows in Theology at St Deiniol’s Library and Glyndwr University is developing a programme of MPhil and PhD studies in Practical and Empirical Theology and in Religious Education. The programme is ideally suited for teachers and clergy who wish to shape part-time study in these fields within the supportive and collegial context of the residential library. Current projects include empirical studies of:
- Leadership in Black-majority Pentecostal churches.
- Experiences of retired clergy.
- New age beliefs among young people.
- The ministry of all God’s people.
Opportunities are also becoming available for full-time study. In January 2010 Ms Gemma Penny was appointed to the first full-time residential studentship in the Library, where she will be contributing to the Teenage Religion and Values Project. The second studentship is now available in the area of Cathedral Studies. Further information about the studentships can be obtained from the administrator of the St Mary's Centre.
